Midway Marina - MS

We left alone, or without our wingman, Misty Pearl, to continue our trek south to Mobile Bay. It was a very strange feeling leaving them at the dock. You can tell we left early since the sun wasn't even up yet but again we had a lovely, calm morning as we began our journey on the Tennessee Tom Bigby Waterway.

Nice flat water!

Finally back in narrow waterways.  No chance of waves rocking us here even if we pass a tow it's nothing like Lake Michigan!!

Welcome to the Tenn-Tom above!

We have 12 more descending locks on the trip left and this was #1, the Jamie Whitten Lock.  It is the greatest drop of the entire Loop, 84 feet!! That's about 3-4 times greater than the rest.

It feels like a canyon.

After 3 of the 12 locks we arrived at Midway Marina. There wasn't a whole lot here but we did borrow the courtesy van to go get dinner in town.

Again, not much to choose from but we ended up at Legends Sports Bar after the van stalled twice when we came to stop signs.  Didn't want to chance it so we went to the first place we saw.  I did have some good seafood gumbo that was kinda unique for a sports bar.

This place was definitely local.

Two other couples were brave enough to go in the van with us, John and Marilyn (Blue Goose) and Tim and Valerie (Aulaboard).  Our shirts and napkins look like they are glowing because they had blue lights in some of the fixtures.

Oh, the places we've been and the things we've seen!
