Peoria, IL

Heading to Peoria, IL.  Look at that water, this is the way I like to travel! Not even a ripple.

There are a few duck blinds along the way and we hear shots every now and then.

More barges to pass everyday. It was a bit tight around that green marker ahead!

Coming into Illinois Valley Yacht Club for the night.  I'm always at the ready to throw someone a line to catch.

I've said it before, every marina is different and this being a Yacht Club was quite nice.

The picture above hangs in the Commodore Room of the Yacht Club. It tells that Henry Detweiller not only made the model boat below in the mid-1800's but that he was also her captain while sailing all along the rivers from Peoria to New Orleans.

This plaque below marks the height of the flood inside the Yacht Club back in 2013.

Street entrance to the Club is shown below.

Cool carpet going up the staircase.

Club's lobby is shown below.

Trophy case.

Here lies Second Wave snug against the dock just beneath the Club's restaurant and bar.

The Yacht Club had a nice dining room with a great view and great food.  Being a Friday night many of the members began to show up in the late afternoon and were very friendly and even offered to drive us to get groceries.  We didn't take them up on it but it was still a very nice gesture.

My Chicken Marsala.

Brent's Fried Chicken.

That's a model of the USS Illinois below.

The Club is over 100 years old.
