Ottawa, IL

And we are off again....another pretty day! We only traveled 7.7 miles but had to wait again for the Marseilles lock even though we called ahead for a time to lock through.  Seems like this will be the norm for the Illinois River.

We are in a turtle caravan again. But the conditions on the river couldn't be easier; quite a contrast to Lake Michigan in late August and early September.

Here we sit bobbing around for a couple hours waiting on the lock.  Trying to stay away from one another.  Everyone thinks we can put these things in park...not! Fortunately the winds were calm.

To add to our delay they brought a survey team out to launch and cruise this little submarine around looking for damage in the lock while we sit first outside the lock, then inside.

There were 13 of us in the lock.

We were rafted to the boat in the picture below while in the lock. As you can see from the photo, half of their radar arch is missing. They didn't fit beneath one of the bridges around Chicago!!

Finally time to go!

Remember we only traveled 7.7 miles to Heritage Harbor but it was in the afternoon when we got in.

Another pool I didn't swim in!  I had laundry to do and groceries to buy!

Electric boats for rent.

Restaurant onsite.

Seven Looper couples went up to the restaurant for dinner.

Walking back to the boat after dinner.  These townhouses/condos were on the banks of the marina.
