Leland, MI
Leland Harbor is referred to as "Fishtown". It is home to an authentic Great Lakes fishing fleet. The small village is located in the background of the picture above (taken from the bridge of Second Wave).
Old ice and fish shanties now house an operating fish house, smoke house, and specialty shops.
Those are old fish net floats in the picture below. They are woven into the fishermen's nets to keep them afloat.
We were told the Village Cheese Shanty was the place to go for lunch and apparently so was everyone else visiting Leland! The line was long and it took a long time to get our sub sandwiches but it was well worth the wait.
More local beer - an Edmund Fitzgerald Porter below.
More pictures of Fishtown below. Its located just below a small dam. Residential units are seen just across the narrow waterway from the village.
These cars are amphibious sort of like the Duck Boat Tours we took in Boston and other places we visited years ago.
This one went for a cruise right in our marina!
