Harbor Springs, MI

Cool early morning picture off the stern as we got underway from Mackinaw City. Past our wake you can see very calm seas!! Basically the only way I like it!

Coming into Harbor Springs. The water near the shoreline is emerald green.

Beautiful little marina (and community).

View from the breakfast table the next morning (below).

There was a great little mooring field in the cove behind Second Wave.

The clarity and color of the water continues to impress.

This marina had some unique amenities, one being the Gem car.  Supposedly everyone in Harbor Springs uses GEM cars.  That kinda gives you an idea of the swankiness of the place.  Anyway, we thought it would be fun to go for a ride and got all the instructions and off we went.  The battery was 100% charged when we left and after about 3 miles of use we were under 25%.

In the pics below we look like we are just pulled over taking in the scenery on the golf course.  Looks can be deceiving...the battery is totally dead and we are waiting on the guy from the marina to rescue us!! Ultimately we ended up taking his truck back to the marina and he hobbled back in the GEM car.

In the distance, scurrying across the golf course, are 6 turkeys! I think that's called a double eagle on the scorecard?

So we were then off on foot again exploring the city and its beautiful landscape.

A little bit of downtown below.

Oh yes, we had the cookies!

You know you have returned to civilization when the local IGA has Shiner Bock beer. Brent bought all they had on the shelf.

As Doug and Dana were waiting for us outside the IGA to walk back to the marina, a couple stopped and recognized them from the marina and asked if we wanted a ride back.  We don't pass that up especially with grocery bags!  It was a little crowded in the back seat but it was still better than walking.

A blog post can't go by without a food pic it seems. It was as good as it looks!
