Orillia, Ontario
In order to get to Orillia, ON we traveled through what is known as the Simcoe Region which is where you cross Lake Simcoe (the largest lake on the Trent Severn Waterway). Again we were patient and chose our travel day wisely and had a very calm weather crossing.
Sometimes the larger marinas have unique features about them and the Port of Orillia had this street art placed throughout the marina.
The first night we were there Herb Seaton on Phantom invited all Loopers to docktails on his boat. Herb finished his Loop in 2017 but is now going around again. Karen will not be going around again!! He single hands a 53 MV. Very impressive!!
As the sun was setting we saw this lit Canadian flag in the distance.
Also in this marina there is this gazebo with a piano right out in the open for the public. Every time we walked by there was someone playing it and occasionally singing.
Lots of Sea Planes in this area and as you can see they would fly in right behind Second Wave!
Who knew Gordon Lightfoot was from Orillia, Ontario??
Relaxing on Misty Pearl watching another sunset!
On Saturday Orillia had their Scottish Festival with a parade that came right in front of the marina. Doug and Dana joined us for the festivities.
There were at least a dozen Pipe and Drum Bands in the parade (they all seemed to play the same song - or at least that's what bagpipes sound like to us - the same song).
Yes, they have Shriners in Canada too!
We decided a dinghy ride was in order later that afternoon to explore the area from the water. We haven't been in just too many areas that are conducive to using the dinghy which has been surprising to us.
