Oh Canada!!
Finally we made it to Canada, more specifically Kingston, Ontario! This was our port of entry so we had to check in with the Border Patrol. We had concerns about the process and when it was complete, it was virtually nothing to worry about. Brent used this phone in the pic below to call the provided number and gave our names, passport numbers, how long we planned to be in Canada and answered a few questions about what we had onboard. They gave us a number that we were to display on the boat during our stay and we were done. Easy peasy!!
Our next order of business was to find a bank that would exchange our US currency. Paper money starts with $5 bills. Any denomination lower than that is coins, $2 coins called toonies and $1 coins called loonies and then quarters and dimes. The exchange rate was approximately 75%. We will need to spend all of it before leaving Canada since the reverse isn't very good. Brent calls it all Monopoly Money.
We then explored the city.
Not sure why there are no words on any of the traffic signs. Glad we are not driving.
One of the first restaurants we came across was Lone Star Texas Grill. Did I say we were in Canada?? Well, we were going to have to try this.
The tacos were a close imitation and a welcome change.
We made our way to the Kingston Brewing Company below.
Funny that this sticker was stuck on the wall in the Kingston Brewing Co.
Thought this was super cool considering I taught the Periodic Table of Elements for years!
Another beautiful cathedral.
From here we start going westward toward the Trent Severn Waterway!
