NYC - Day #1

Croton on Hudson, NY
Half Moon Bay marina is located about 25 miles north of NYC.  We felt this would be a good place to access NYC from and not be in the hustle and bustle of the city. A train station with Express Service into Grand Central Station was only about a 15 minute walk from the marina.

Hardly looks like New York in the photo below taken of the marina's swimming pool.

Second Wave is the furthest one in the distance against the wall. Our buddy boat, Misty Pearl, is in the center of the photo.

Very nice condos on the waterfront surrounding the marina.

Staying at Half Moon Bay our mode of transportation into NYC was the metro train.  It was about an hour's ride one way into Grand Central Station. This is part of the path to the train station.

Not too busy on a Sunday but Monday was a different story with all the commuters. The picture above is of the waiting area to board our train (Track #4).

The photo below is of our view as we sped toward NYC.

Grand Central Station is like a very busy airport terminal.

The above photo is of the ceiling inside the terminal.

The photos above and below are of the exterior of Grand Central Station on 42nd Street. In the background of the picture below you can see the Empire State Building just a few blocks away. Grand Central Station was close  to everything in uptown Manhattan.

Outside Grand Central Station there were kiosks along the street selling hot dogs, ice cream, and various other non food items.

Times Square on a Sunday....

Radio City Music Hall - just so happens that that evening the Tony Awards were being hosted here.  They were laying out the red carpet when we were walking by.

Central Park was a whole lot bigger than I expected.  You could rent bikes to ride on the trails to see all of it or just take a nice walk in the area that you chose.

There was a men's softball game going on in the park while we were there.

St. Patrick's Cathedral was another beautiful church where we attended mass.  Personally I think it has been the most stunning.

Rockefeller Center

Another reward after walking probably 20,000 steps today was fabulous Kung Pao Chicken!! Brent said it was the best he had had since Hsiu Ysu. That's a huge compliment.
