Meet Clearwater, FL

Chiang Mai Thai & Sushi Bar - we ate here Friday night with Lori and Ken and Lori's sister, Ellen, and her daughter, Lydia.  The food was outstanding! (Lori and Ken arrived Thursday night ahead of us straight from Panama City) πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€It was great to hang out with them again.

This is the view we've had from our slip at the Clearwater Harbor Marina. It is a boater's Disney Land.

Cochran's Park right next to the marina.

The above pics are our view in the marina.  A lot of entertainment boats pass right in front of us many times a day.

Crabby's is the restaurant we met up with Dan and Jean from Time Out for lunch Saturday.  They were the lead boat in our trio as we crossed the Gulf. We did learn from them over lunch what exactly the problem was with our other buddy boat's rudder during the crossing.

Apparently a solenoid that is part of the hydraulic steering system and is mounted on the inside of the transom became detached and made the rudder uncontrollable. It had to be somehow reattached to the transom. We didn't get to see the repair because Jay and Ellen left from Clearwater early the next day. Maybe at some point along the way we'll get to go aboard and see for ourselves.

Of course, Brent can't ever resist the largest seafood platter at any restaurant. This is the Key West Platter (at least part of it).

Fish Tacos

The following pics are from when we walked along the beach area of Clearwater Beach.

Look at all those people!  It is a holiday weekend (President's Day) and the weather is warmer than it has been.

Many charter fishing boats in this area.  And boy do they deliver!

This bride was nice enough to take a moment out of her busy afternoon to pose for a pic. She had her reception on "The Caribbean Queen". They may have wet a hook while they were underway - seems like everybody does around here.

Bella had had enough!  Can't we just go back to the boat so I can sleep!🐾

Sunday (and my Birthday) arrived again and this week no Uber, we walked 2 miles!!! There is so much traffic around here that you can't count on the Jolly Trolley to be on time, so since it was in the low 70s we took off for St. Brenden's catholic church. Took us 45 minutes, the same time as when we'd ridden the trolley the day before.

Birthday brunch at Windwards, yum! I had the eggs benedict.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is the home of Winter, the dolphin without a tail and star of Whale Tail, the movie.  Since he doesn't have a tail we couldn't get a good pic of him because he can't propel himself out of the water.

Winter's Peduncle Cast that was created for him.  As he grew the cast was recreated to fit properly.

This is one of the prototype tails Winter wore in 2010.

The largest pelicans I have ever seen and all white or a very light pink.  Each weigh only about 15 pounds.

Not a pelican, I know. But he was sure proud to have his picture taken.

Bounty from the sea!

View across Cleveland St. as I ate my Birthday dinner!  Way too much food today, back to meat and veggies tomorrow.
