Back on the water heading to the Mermentau River
Pulled away from the marina at 8:00 and made our way south back down the Calcasieu River to reconnect with the GICW and continue heading east. About 3 miles east of the intersection we encountered our first LOCK and swing bridge where the cars had to wait for us to clear.
Tucked away in the Mermentau River for the night.
We travelled about 50 miles today and only had to pass one tug. Saw a couple of bald eagles and many more pelicans that were begging for their pic to be taken. We made it to our anchorage mid afternoon and experienced more success with setting our anchor the first time. Ken and Lori pulled up soon after we did and asked if we wanted to come over so we dropped the dinghy in the water and headed to their boat. The dinghy ride back in a dark river channel was like Space Mountain in Disneyland where we could see nothing but knew there were obstacles all around us.
