Holland, MI

We only had one night in Holland, MI so while we were there we did as much as we could that afternoon.  It's been a couple weeks since we only had a one night stop over. But, the weather forecast is good for tomorrow so we plan to travel.

The marina facilities were very nice with a full service boat yard and indoor winter boat storage hangars available.

Yes, that's me beneath the sailboat in the photo below. This boat (Wizard) has quite a draft!

We had to take an Uber to get anywhere so we went to Windmill Island Gardens.  It is home to the 251 year old windmill De Zwaan, the only authentic, working Dutch windmill in the US. This is Holland after all. The grounds were really nice in the photos below.

Pretty cool windmill.

Downtown Holland was boasting with boutiques, restaurants, and various other unique shops.  Holland is also home to Hope College which is very close to downtown and the stores cater to the college students and their parent's money.

We finally were in a town on the correct night when an event was going on.  We seem to be either too early or have just missed the event. This was the final performance of the summer.

That's an electric cello in the photo below. The young man is a sophomore and has been playing since he was five. He's played the electric only since this last January. His proud Mom sat about 25 feet away.

The young guy in the photo below could barely play his ukulele (still learning) but he had a really nice voice.
