West Point
This is the guest entrance to West Point. The above photo is of the West Point Museum and below is the brand new entrance to the Visitor's Center.
The four photos below were taken of Cadet Chapel on the campus. There are several "houses of worship" on campus but all are called Chapels.
Cadet Chapel was opened in 1910.
The Cadet Chapel hosts the largest chapel organ in the world. The organ's pipes line the length of the building along both sides (23,511 individual pipes).
The cannons in the photo below are "trophies of war" taken in various battles throughout the years.
This view looking north up the Hudson River from the campus is the same portion of the river that Second Wave will travel after we leave the area.
The photo below is of Battle Monument. It was dedicated in 1897 by surviving Civil War veterans in remembrance of the Regular Army officers and soldiers who died for the Union during the Civil War.
The images above and below are of the Parade Grounds where graduations are held.
These two photos were taken as we cruised Second Wave past West Point on our way north up the Hudson River toward the Erie Canal (still many miles away). It wasn't as sunny on the day we left as it was the day we were on campus.
